Bann RFC backs Rory’s campaign
15 September 2021
BANBRIDGE Rugby Club’s fundraising for ‘Rory’s Miles2Mayo’, in aid of the Cancer Fund for Children, got underway last Saturday.
Rory has been a great ambassador for rugby and Bann RFC, so the Rifle Park club wanted to be able to give him something back by supporting his campaign. The Coffee Dock is selling coffee and buns, sponsored by the Rosehip Bakery, and will be donating all the proceeds.
The P4 to Maxis will be getting a chance to try out their kicking skills this week and win prizes, so they can play their part in fundraising for Rory too.
The P1 to P3s are selling 180 squares for the training pitch in a raffle, and all prizes are being kindly donated by the club shop.
This Saturday (September 18), Bann RFC invites anyone to the club, who would like to support Rory.
“We would like to get at least 180 people to walk a mile around the rugby pitches to represent the 180 miles Rory is walking to Mayo,” a BRFC spokesperson said.
“Please check in at the Coffee Dock to register for the walk from 9.30am to 10am, and ensure that you continue to be aware of social distancing measures. Donation buckets will be there for anyone wanting to take part.
“For anyone that wants to contribute, but cannot be with us this Saturday, please feel free to donate by going to the Banbridge RFC Facebook page and go to the ‘Rory’s Miles2Mayo’ donation page.”
To round off the day’s fundraising there will be a steak BBQ at the club from 6.30pm until late.
BRFC sponsors will be providing the steaks (Linden Foods) and salads (John and Fiona from Linen Hill Street Kitchen). To book your tickets, please go to the Banbridge RFC Facebook page and click on the event. Tickets must be purchased by the evening of Thursday, September 16, due to limited numbers. To read more subscribe to our online Newspaper
